I am a graduate of Duke University. I completed a degree in Cultural Anthropology and Theater Studies. I first began tutoring for Duke's athletic department, where I would tutor athletes in Critical Reading, College Level Writing, and Anthropology. I have also tutored with America Reads/America Counts, during which I co-founded a program that tutors refugee youth with their language educational needs. While I tutor in a variety of subjects, I specialize in Academic Writing and SAT and PSAT prep. I strive to teach my students the material they need to know to succeed in their classes, but I also try to teach my students how to think critically and independently. I begin tutoring sessions with an evaluation, which involves looking over previous work or discussing the student's goals. I then try to begin with what the student already knows. I try to teach them how to use what they already know and then broaden that base. I try to help them find the tools they need to help them solve problems and find solutions. Knowing strategies and tricks will help them achieve their personal educational goals. I want to answer my students' questions, address their concerns, and leave them with a feeling of confidence. In my free time, I enjoy working in theater and exploring the city.
