Experience
Although I only recently received my bachelor's in Biochemistry, Cellular, and Molecular Biology from Connecticut College, I already have a great deal of experience tutoring and mentoring others. While attending school, I was a peer tutor in my program, helping other students to reach their academic goals. This included individual and group sessions, depending on the students' needs. In addition, I was a teacher's assistant during my final year in college. As a TA, I was responsible for organization of class discussions and overseeing problem solving sessions for the rest of the class. This has helped me as a tutor because it taught me how to help others learn. I enjoy being a tutor and have a particular interest in subjects like biology, chemistry, and anything else to do with science. I also have experience in English, reading, and writing, and I enjoy tutoring in those subjects, as well. My style of tutoring involves discussing the issues at hand and assisting students as they learn how to get through problems on their own, rather than showing them how to solve a problem directly. Currently, I am completing my master's degree in Genetic Counseling from the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai.
