Experience

My background in finance fell to the wayside when I realized I was born to be a teacher. Currently, I am a Middle and High School Social Studies teacher of Grade 7 American History and Grade 9 Global History in Manhattan. My first interest is in helping kids, followed by a deep passion for learning and writing. I am able to transfer this love of learning to young people, by rendering fun and interesting lessons, while developing a basis of trust with my students. My areas of expertise are social studies (cause and effect, compare and contrast, connections to the present), and writing (both academic and creative construction). My ten years in Italy have given me a broader knowledge base than most schools I've attended, and I wish to share this worldliness and culture with the children and teens I tutor and teach. My mission is to encourage students to understand that all that they need to be successful is already inside of them, and that our lessons are ways in which we can collaboratively help him or her reach optimum success. Raising self-awareness and confidence is part of my vocation, and I hope to usher this into the lives of any students who need this boost. Encouraging students to work hard, go further and to challenge themselves to do their best are things I do best. I look forward to making connections with you and your student.

Hobbies

I sing, act, write songs, and generally "google" just about everything new I encounter! My wonderful apt looks out on a park, so I often take long walks or go for a bike ride there. Family and friends and dear and important to me, so I make time to connect with them every weekend.
