Experience
I received my B.S. in Education and Social Policy from Northwestern University. What I enjoy most about the tutoring process is the opportunity to transform complex, mysterious material into material the student can easily understand and gain control over. My goal isn't simply to help students learn the right answers, but also to help them understand why those answers are correct and how best to apply the knowledge and processes they've gathered in other contexts, to find the correct answers to other, as-yet-unanticipated questions. I very much enjoy working with students who are preparing for standardized tests, in particular the ACT, SAT, and PSAT. I scored a 36 on the ACT myself, and love to help students crack the test. I am also fluent in Spanish, having studied in Chile, Argentina, and Costa Rica. In addition to test preparation, I assist students with Spanish, English, Writing, and Literature. Outside of work, I enjoy trying out recipes, exploring neighborhoods in the Washington, D.C. area, and spending time with my two dogs. On a fun side note, I won an episode of Jeopardy at the age of 12, so I'm also prepared to fulfill any obscure trivia needs you might have.
