Experience
My first tutoring experience was when I tutored Chemistry at the University of California, San Diego Learning Center. My style of tutoring is different than most because I help break down complex information into understandable steps for others to follow. I interact with students by paying attention to the areas they have misunderstandings in. I have worked with children with autism and language impairments. I have experience tutoring chemistry, algebra, and literacy. I have over a year of experience as an SAT instructor for a major test prep company. I spent a semester as helper to an 8th grade teacher and I volunteered six months as a literacy tutor at the university. I know the difference in tutoring with explanations and interaction rather than just lecturing. I am great at one-on-one tutoring sessions. I believe that helps each student's needs. I am patient and understanding with the students I tutor. In my tutoring experiences, I have filled the gap that is missing in classrooms that gives students the extra attention they need to be successful. I find tutoring as a great opportunity to spread my knowledge with others. I am available on weeknights and weekends since my research position at UCSD is very flexible.
