ExperienceI've been a tutor since 2007 when I entered graduate school. I've found it a great way to continue teaching, engage with students, and tutor the very subjects that got me into math in the first place.
I've had thorough experience teaching at the university level and tutoring in: financial mathematics, mathematics, physics, statistics, computer programming, actuarial sciences and test preparation (SAT and GRE) to both undergraduate and graduate students.
Teaching Approach: 1) convey to students an intuition of the subject in order to determine how to best approach problems of interest, 2) teach the computations necessary to solve the problem in an efficient and straightforward manner.

Dr. Balachadran has been my very best investment ever--in respect to my children's education! Education is an investment that will never go sour. Math is the king in any education; Dr. Balachadran will help your children conquer this king, as well as any other goals they might have in the realm of mathematics. Before undergoing Dr. Balachachadran's instruction, I found that my children were only cursorily interested in their math courses, but that (unsurprisingly) soon changed. He has a true understanding of mathematics, is gifted with a clear teaching style, and will assuredly engage, challenge, and interest your children to the utmost. He has elevated my two children to new horizons and has helped one of them get admission to some prestigious U.S. colleges ( MIT, Yale…). My other child is still in high school and continues to delightedly pursue the intricacies of the mathematical world under Dr. Balachandran's invaluable instruction.
J. Sze, MA USA:
I'm just writing to say thanks again for a good semester! I'm working in a cancer research lab right now, with my own project, and I can't tell you how valuable what I learned in your class is.
I use what you taught us literally every single day when we analyze our results. My mentor and my boss are very impressed that I can do the statistical analysis on my own, which is more than any of the other students in my program can say.
The project you had us do was extremely helpful in giving me not only great practice with performing the tests, but it also helped me think critically about how to approach collecting and analyzing the data.
With the tools you provided me, my results aren't simply speculative, they are statistically significant. My mentors are pleased, and I will probably even be able to publish my results! Not only that, this might even go on to help people with cancer!
L. Tomasi, NC USA:
Prakash tutored me through two semesters of calculus, and I can’t recommend him highly enough. While I’ve always been able to study a math textbook and learn how to work problems, I was having trouble grasping concepts intuitively and applying them to exam problems. Working with Prakash helped me immensely and led me both to do better on tests and to really understand the material I was studying. He answered my questions clearly and fully, and he would often follow up an explanation of a concept with an example problem that would really drive the idea home. His friendly demeanor made sessions enjoyable, and despite his busy schedule as a PhD student he never missed a session and always made himself available. Thanks to Prakash, I ended up getting A’s in my two calculus courses and came away with a genuine understanding of the concepts they covered.
HobbiesI like to run, draw, read, play the guitar, cook and tutor. During the winter, I like to ski.
I love to travel, learn new languages, and have been described by friends as being passionate and having a very contagious personality.
