Private tutor in New York, NY

Education

I graduated from Stanford University with a B.S. in Biology and a B.A. in Political Science

Experience

I have a PERFECT SCORE on the SAT I, SAT II Math and SAT II Physics exams, as well as a SAT II Chemistry 790 and Biology 780. Additionally, I scored a 176 on the LSAT, a 36 on the MCAT, and I have a perfect 5 score on 8 different AP exams (Calculus, Physics, US History, Chemistry, English Lit and Comp, English Language and Comp, Computer Science, and Statistics). My success on such a wide array of standardized tests makes me an extremely effective tutor. In addition to being knowledgeable in a particular subject, I have tremendously successful test taking skills and techniques that I can impart upon my students. Therefore, I take a dual-pronged approach towards tutoring my students – teaching them the subjects and concepts they struggle with, while simultaneously training them to become more effective test-takers. In addition to popular study aides and review materials available here in the US, I also have unique access to Chinese test-prep materials and methods on cracking the SAT and SAT subject tests. I have found great success as a tutor is because I know how to explain difficult concepts to struggling students. Because of the breadth of my knowledge and education, I can easily explain complex concepts in a number of different ways until I find the approach that works best for each student. I tailor my teaching method to each student based on their unique strengths, weaknesses, and learning style. I keep my tutoring sessions relaxed and stress-free, while still pushing my students to challenge themselves and reach new academic heights. I believe that each student is capable of so much more than they realize, and it is a thrill and a joy to help unlock their potential for success. I have 7 years of extensive experience tutoring students in standardized test prep (SAT, ACT, SAT II, AP, PSAT, MCAT, and LSAT), as well as subject tutoring in all levels of math and science (middle school through college-level), history, and writing. I also have experience helping students with college admissions essays as well as admissions counseling and preparations. My essays have helped me gain admission to Stanford, Yale, and Princeton, and along with a hand-written note from the Dean of Admissions at Brown saying that she just wanted to let me know that my college essay made her tear up. For students with difficult schedules or that live far away, I am available for skype tutoring as well as remote essay and project revisions. If you have any specific needs or requests, please contact me. I am flexible, and am always willing to work around what you or your child needs to reach your academic goals!
