Experience

I grew up in Connecticut with French parents; I learned to speak both English and French at the same time. My extended family (grandparents, aunts, uncles, etc.) live in France and I have spent almost every summer of my life visiting with my family in France (all the way from Toulouse, to the Loire Valley, to Bretagne). Thus, I am not only fluent in French, but am also very familiar with colloquial French; I have a strong knowledge of vocabulary words and phrases that are not necessarily taught in the classroom. I also took French classes from middle school to college in order to learn the fine details of the mechanics of the French language. This has given me a strong command of the sometimes very complicated grammar rules in French - and the understanding of these grammar rules in writing, interpreting passages, or listening. I took upper-level French literature courses while in college; I have a particular interest in Proust and Camus. When it comes down to it, I am passionate about the French language: I love to speak it and I love to teach it to others. Sharing a passion for the French language and enabling others to learn the French language and share that passion is incredibly rewarding.

Hobbies

I recently graduated from Smith College in May. Since graduation, I have been living in New York City and working as a paralegal. My plans are to eventually go to law school for environmental law or criminal justice. I enjoy reading (rather, consuming) books of all sorts, discovering new cafes, and exploring new parts of the city. I particularly enjoy going on walks through Central Park and Prospect Park, taking the East River Ferry from Queens to Brooklyn and back, and venturing to the Cloisters, weather permitting. I am a very passionate, committed, and responsible person. I am serious about the task at hand, but also quick to laugh and enjoy the moment. And most importantly, I love the French language and I am eager to teach it to others!
