I am a PhD candidate in the philosophy department at Columbia University, where I am currently waiting to defend a dissertation in ethics and political philosophy. I also work in the financial sector and operate a small tutoring business.
I WORK AS A COLLEGE PROFESSOR.
I have worked one-on-one with hundreds of students in my capacity as undergraduate instructor and teaching assistant. I have several hundred hours of classroom instruction experience and have graded over a thousand student papers.
EXTENSIVE TUTORING EXPERIENCE.
I specialize in academic writing and coaching. I have helped about four dozen students receive A's and A-'s on projects and papers in the following subjects:
philosophy, ethics, psychology, history, sociology, political science, musicology, religion, logic, finance, business, business ethics, medical ethics, developmental psychology, child psychology, gender studies, public policy, international relations, theology, religious studies, management, and academic writing.
YOU WILL GET GOOD GRADES.
If you work with me, you are very likely to get an A on your assignment and overwhelmingly likely to get an A- or higher. Only once, to my knowledge, has a client who expressly wanted top marks received lower than an A- after working with me on a project.

If, after the first 45 minutes of our first session, you feel that you will not benefit from our coaching session and no longer want to work with me, I will refund you the coaching fee for your session. My other guarantees are listed at http://www.collegecoach.nyc/pricing/.
I offer a $10/hour discount for clients who are willing to meet me on Columbia's campus or work remotely (over phone or Skype).
Payment plans are available, and I will work within your budget. If you tell me how much you're able to devote to tutoring and coaching, I'll let you know what I can offer you. I can take credit card payments.
If I will travel to meet you, I ask that you reimburse my reasonable travel costs and schedule at least one hour of coaching for every half hour I travel to meet you.
I charge $20 for cancellations made less than 24 hours in advance. If you don't show up to the appointment, I will charge for as many hours as we had scheduled to meet, plus travel costs. (Don't be a no-show! Cancel in advance!)
The $40 an hour is an introductory rate for clients that contact me through UniversityTutor. This introductory rate is good for the first five hours that I work with you. My normal rate is $60 an hour, subject to negotiation.
HobbiesI'm an avid runner and enjoy playing the piano and organ. I love economics and finance and enjoy intellectual conversations about almost any topic.

I worked with Nick quite a bit last semester. Nick mainly tutored me in my Philosophical Ethics course which was very writing intensive. I outlined many essays with Nick, and each time I felt more confident in my writing. We reviewed the concepts that I was struggling with, and after some time working with nick, I felt confident enough to raise my hand more often, and become a part of our class discussions. Working with Nick was pleasure, and I intend on working with him again soon. He's very bright, a quick thinker, and a great writer. Easily the best tutor I've had, and I've recommended him many of my college friends.
As others have said, Nick is a fantastic and extremely capable tutor. He helped me reorganize large (120+ pages) amounts of material on a topic –policy-related – beyond his specialty into a structure that better communicated my larger argument. With his assistance in the editing process, I completely overhauled my document and earned top marks on my assignment. For the parts of my work that were less clear, Nick gave me concrete, specific, and highly valuable suggestions about how to better articulate and restructure my ideas with clarity and force. Nick genuinely cares about his tutees and was always available to meet in-person or speak on the phone to discuss my concerns, listen to my frustrations, and ensure that I understood his suggestions. He made a great effort to genuinely understand my argument and topic. Indeed, the care with which he approached editing my paper manifested into thoughtful and nuanced substantive comments and editing suggestions that exceeded my expectations. I only regret not seeking out his help sooner! I highly recommend Nick – you will not find a more accommodating, flexible, and caring tutor anywhere!
Nick is a fantastic tutor. He is punctual, dedicated, and extremely intelligent. He truly has a unique ability to distill information and make it clearer. He's also good at listening: in my experience, sometimes good teachers don't translate to good teachers. He'll give great feedback, while seriously increasing your own knowledge. Highly recommend.
Nick helped me edit a term paper in a short period of time. He is talented at structuring papers and at coming up with compelling arguments. Nick responds quickly to emails and texts, he is good with deadlines and appointments, he does not waste your time, and he is pleasant to work with.
