| Experience: | I have experience tutoring French language from beginning to advanced levels.
I have studied the language for over 11 years and have spent many months living in France with French families and summers working in Paris.
In the high school level I scored a 4 on the French Literature Advanced Placement exam and a 5 on the French Language exam (on a scale of 1-5). I scored a 720 on my SAT II - French Language examination. (ACT 29 Composite)
As Vice-President of my school's chapter of the National Honor Society, I helped organize a student-led tutoring program for other students through which I began tutoring beginners French as well as Biology and Pre-Algebra.
The summer after my senior year I tutored a sophomore (French Level 2 student) through a one-on-one summer school program with Mary Lee Bunch and Associates based out of Brentwood, TN. She had failed all four quarters of the previous year with a final average of a 60 for her spring semester. Upon completion of our work over the summer, she scored an 82 on her final exam.
I have continued my studies at the university level at New York University as well as in Paris. I recently completed a 6 week course at La Sorbonne - the oldest university in Paris where I received high marks at the advanced level. In addition I have spent a total of 6 months over several summers living with French families. I have degrees in French and Theater Directing. In French I took advanced level language, literature, philosophy, and translation courses.
For these reasons, I feel I am a strong candidate for a tutoring position in French studies. I am very passionate about the language, the culture and learning. In general, I am very organized, responsible and punctual about deadlines and schedules. I really enjoy working with students and helping them learn this language. It's definitely challenging language to learn, but with the right encouragement and structure it's more than possible and fun!

| I really appreciate the timeliness in which she responded to my emails. There has never been a time lag between them. Her emails have always been very clear and straightforward. I sense a deep passion for French with a willingness and sincere desire to share her knowledge with anyone who is interested. I loved the fact that there is a genuine readiness to work around my schedule. We have not actually met, but I sure do look forward to working with her in the days ahead. |
