Erica G.
Private tutor in New York, NY
Education
I am a senior American Studies major at Columbia University with an interest in popular culture, intellectual history, and New York City arts and culture.
Experience
My background is in print, online, and radio journalism and I have extensive writing and editing experience. My work has been published on WNYC.org, NYTimes.com, and in print. I am currently Station Manager at WKCR FM-NY, Columbia University's student-run radio station. I am lucky enough to have worked with a number of fantastic teachers and mentors who have instilled in me a knowledge (and love) of writing, editing, and grammar. After putting these learned skills to good use in my own academic and professional work, I am eager to share my passions with NYC students. Whether a student is looking to better express herself in an academic paper or prepare college admissions essays, I feel confident that I can provide instruction while still preserving that student's voice and ideas. In the past, I have taken on teacher and mentor roles in both academic and extracurricular areas. Among other positions, I have experience teaching NYC public school students (in radio production), middle and high school special needs students (in art and academics), high school students (in journalism), and youth taekwondo practitioners. SAT Scores: 800 Reading, 800 Writing, 770 Math
