Experience

I'm a native speaker of Chinese and speak English fluently and Spanish proficiently. I'm currently teaching Mandarin Chinese and Pre-Calculus at a high school in upstate NY. I'm moving to the city from mid June through August and am hoping to get tutoring jobs. I can tutor Chinese, Spanish and various levels of math. I'm free in the afternoon and can travel to most locations in NYC. In addition to my current teaching job, I had various tutoring experiences in college including holding one-on-one tutorial sessions on writing papers and on ESL. I have taken an introductory linguistics course at college and am currently educating myself more on the Second Language Acquisition branch of Applied Linguistics. I'm particularly interested in experimenting with non-traditional language pedagogy to make language learning fun and effective, especially for a seemingly hard language like Chinese.
